Artist Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, known as Christo, passed away of natural causes today, on May 31, 2020, at his home in New York City. He was 84 years old.

Together with his wife, Claude, created many classical ground arts.Christo and Jeanne Claude are contemporary artists whose works never appear in galleries, but between the earth and nature.

Between 1969 and 1976, the Christo completed three huge, stunning pieces of landscape art.

In the 1990s, after six years of planning, at a cost of $26 million, they created a multinational transatlantic works. This work puts 3100 big umbrellas with 5 meters high, 6 meters wide, and 200 kilograms weighs, and scattered on the Pacific coast.

As the Christos' art projects grew, the couple showed more and more unbreakable power, until "wrapping the Empire State Building" burst onto the scene in 1995, culminating in the artistic couple's worldwide fame.

On June 17, 1995, the 50th anniversary of the end of world war II, the Capitol was wrapped in 100, 000 square meters of silver-white acrylic fabric and 15, 000 meters of deep blue rope, forming a shimmering earth sculpture.

The Christos' boldness of imagination and execution is an eye-opener.

These projects are extremely large, and involve politics, economy, law, diplomacy, fire protection, insurance, transportation, security, and so on. Their creations have often become the focus of media attention.
