In recent years, Copenhagen, the fairy tale capital, has been praised worldwide for its urban construction and environmental planning, and has been called "the most forward-looking city in the world", "one of the most attractive places to visit" and "one of the most attractive cities to live in". "BIG, SHL, COBE and other local design firms with international influence have turned Copenhagen into a testing ground for sustainable design. Today, Copenhagen is on its way to become the world's first carbon-neutral city by 2025, which will be a city of sustainable future to look forward to.

Copenhagen's waste incineration plant (Copen Hill) has been attracting global attention since its construction. It is a building that is closely linked to the city's development goals. The incineration plant's advanced waste treatment technology and strict exhaust emission standards reflect Copenhagen's relentless technological development in urban environmental management. The hill-shaped public building also assumes the functions of urban recreation and environmental education. The huge sloping roof is covered by year-round green ski slopes, so that people can experience skiing in all seasons without leaving the city.

Copen Hill, known as the world's cleanest waste incinerator, combines environmental protection, technology, recreation, sports, and education, reflecting Copenhagen's "sustainable" strategy of integrating social infrastructure with urban landmarks.

In terms of new architectural design and material innovation, Copenhagen also encourages exploration and breakthroughs with an inclusive attitude. The Copenhagen International School (CIS), designed by C.F. Møller, was the overall winner of the 2018 Active House Award. The architects used 12,000 solar panels for the entire façade of the building, a move that, despite mixed reviews, has made the building the largest solar-powered building in Denmark, providing not only green energy for the school, but also the most direct data to support education and teaching. The building's skin is well insulated and the efficient water-saving devices significantly reduce the building's energy consumption and illustrate the environmental-friendly construction concept of "sustainability" in Copenhagen.

Communication and interaction are not often used to describe Scandinavian life, but Copenhagen has promoted civic encounters as one of the ways to improve the city's well-being over the past 30 years, and the encouragement and support of participatory public spaces has contributed to the rise of this city of equality and sharing.

The OMA-designed BLOX Copenhagen is home to the headquarters of the Danish Centre for Architecture. This huge glass box building spans the main carriageway and connects the city to the harbor, driving the transformation of old and new in this waterfront area with the concept of sharing and open space, providing citizens with a multi-functional urban service of office, housing, exhibition, leisure, fitness, restaurant and parking.

Danish architect Jan Geer writes in his book "Interaction and Space" that as long as people exist, whether in buildings, in residential neighborhoods, in city centers, or in entertainment venues, people and their activities always attract other people. People are attracted to other people, and they gather around them, looking for the closest location. New activities then sprout near ongoing events. The strategy of sustainable development is based on enhancing people's quality of life. Creating and optimizing patterns of human interaction through space and architecture is Copenhagen's upgraded vision of a sustainable future.

The appearance of a park reflects a city's approach to its environment, life and culture. Copenhagen's parks are designed to meet the needs of citizens of all ages and backgrounds within a "sustainable" development strategy. Diverse artistic expressions allow for culture, function and recreation to be used as aspects of sustainable use of parks, and to exude lasting warmth, romance and vitality.

Copenhagen Superkilen Park is a veritable urban park that integrates cultural and artistic expressions with public life, with three zones: the Red Square, which provides a rich urban amenity, the Black Square, which is pierced by a wave-like white line, and the Green Park, which moves from the city to nature. Relatively independent and connected, the three zones are like a world expo filled with cultural symbols from around the world, such as swings from Iraq, benches from Brazil, black octopus slides from Japan, neon signs from the United States, fountains from Morocco, and picnic tables from Armenia. The park brings people of different nationalities and backgrounds back together with a rich spatial experience.

In the planning and design of urban living spaces, Copenhagen has opened up new urban areas and built several charming apartment buildings that are not only uniquely shaped, but also have magical indoor and outdoor environments and lavish ecological landscapes that meet almost every expectation a modern family has for a residence.

The 8 Tallet, designed by BIG, is high in the northeast and low in the southwest, with abundant sunlight and air circulation making the building vibrant. The half-open, half-closed "8" shaped building has a V-shaped ramp that allows residents to walk or bike up the garden from the street to the top of the apartment. Bjarke Ingels, the founder of BIG, says, "Every day that you face the world begins when you walk out the door, and a comfortable living environment will give you the motivation to live every day."

The VM husene consists of two buildings, each in a V and M shape when viewed from the air, with sloping walls and sharp-edged balconies that burst into the outdoors like hedgehogs, greatly satisfying the occupants' need for light and views. The open and flexible geometry of the interior harbors a rich relationship of living. The Hill Residence is separated from the VM Residence by a street, and the building texture mirrors each other. Inspired by the staggered mountain village houses, the Hill House has terraced floors, with the roof of the lower level serving as a garden for the upper level, pushing up to face the sun and the fields. Beneath the residence is a highly functional indoor parking lot with an extremely rich and innovative parking space.

Copenhagen is a city of bicycles, with more than half of its citizens choosing to ride when they travel. Bike paths are treated with extra respect and "courtesy" in Copenhagen. They are the first to be cleared on snowy days, and traffic lights are specially designed to keep bicycles moving at a constant speed. Bicycle-friendly urban buildings are also numerous in Copenhagen, such as Bicycle Snake, Nørreport Station, Inderhavnsbroen and Karen Blixens Square. The effect of cycling on reducing the city's carbon footprint speaks for itself, and Copenhagen has made people fall in love with cycling through a series of innovative policies and urban upgrades. Cycling is no longer just a way to get around for sustainable development, it is integrated into the rhythm of life in the city, moving along with the pulse of the city.

Copenhagen is the host city of the 2023 World Congress of Architects for its groundbreaking urban renewal and architectural design, with the theme "Sustainable Futures-Leave No One Behind". Thomas Vonier, President of the International Union of Architects, said: "Copenhagen offers the world a wonderful solution to the challenges of the 21st century in terms of architecture. Architecture affects all societies. The current pandemic of Neocon pneumonia shows us how architecture and design can help us adapt and change the future in times of crisis. Architecture can help restore and rebuild communities and help avert future health and environmental disasters. When we design and build responsibly, architecture is a powerful force for social good."
