On the occasion of the 36th Teacher's Day, the Art Museum of Tsinghua University will also celebrate the fourth anniversary of its opening. The opening ceremony and academic seminar of "Bai Xueshi Chinese Painting Exhibition" will be held on the afternoon of September 10, 2020.
This exhibition is co-organized by Tsinghua University Art Museum and Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts, co-organized by National Art Museum of China, Beijing Art Academy and White Snow Art Museum, and supported by Chinese Artists Association and China National Academy of Painting.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Du Pengfei, executive deputy curator of Art Museum of Tsinghua University. Feng Yuan, vice-chairman of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) and honorary President of Chinese Artists Association, delivered a speech and announced the opening of the exhibition.
A total of 137 paintings by Mr. Bai are on display. Divided into four sections, these exhibits show the extraordinary artistic life of Bai Xue, from the flowers and birds in his early career, to the characters in the process of conceptual transformation, to the well-known "Guilin landscape" series.
Through the exhibition, we can observe the profound Chinese painting modeling of Mr. Bai.The exhibition will be exhibited in the third-floor exhibition hall of art museum of Tsinghua university on September 10, solstice, November 1, 2020.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Mr. Bai created a number of figure paintings reflecting the new socialist countryside, as well as new landscape paintings and flower-and-bird paintings.
After the 1970s, he went to Guilin for painting from life many times, and created a large number of landscape paintings with the scenery of Misty Rain Yangzhou of Lijiang River as the theme. He also created large scale landscape paintings for important public activities in Beijing, such as the Great Hall of the People, Zhongnanhai Chief reception Hall, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, etc., forming the style characteristics of his landscape paintings, which are clear, handsome and beautiful.
