SHENZHEN-MADE tech innovations in AI, 5G intelligent communications, cloud technologies, advanced materials and software development are making headlines at the Expo 2020 Dubai during the ongoing “Shenzhen Day,” which kicked off Tuesday.
At China Pavilion’s multifunction hall exhibition, 10 representative high-tech Shenzhen enterprises such as UBTECH, BGI Genomics and Intellifusion are exhibiting their flagship products to cater to visitors’ imagination for an IoT (Internet of Things) world.

One of the exhibit’s showstoppers is UBTECH’s friendly panda robot named Youyou. The humanoid service robot, which can pull off tai-chi moves and wield a calligraphy pen with flourish, has greeted and provided on-site intelligent services to over 800,000 guests at the China Pavilion over the past three months. During the “Shenzhen Day” launch ceremony Tuesday, Youyou provided global audiences with an immersive virtual tour around the World Expo via an online livestream platform.

“UBTECH is committed to bringing intelligent robots to thousands of households. As the only Official Partner of AI Robotics for the China Pavilion, we aim to showcase Shenzhen’s strengths in scientific and technological innovation at the world-level Expo stage,” said Tan Min, UBTECH chief brand officer. The company is also showcasing its other three types of robots — Walker X, Cruzr and Wukong, as they planned to leverage the opportunity to expand their overseas reach.

“Huo-Yan” (Fire-Eye) Laboratory presented by the BGI Genomics has also been attracting attention at the pavilion. As BGI’s signature invention in the global combat against the COVID-19, the high-throughput COVID testing air lab can be set up anywhere in a very short time.
Cao Sujie, a representative of BGI Genomics, introduced that “Huo-Yan Laboratory is supporting the world’s anti-epidemic battle by filling in the shortcomings of virus detection.”

By June 2021, BGI Genomics has built more than 90 “Huo-Yan” labs in 30 countries and regions worldwide, producing up to 1 million COVID-19 test results per day.
The Shenzhen Tech Innovation Show is open to the public for the whole “Shenzhen Day” event period, which ends today. Apart from flexing the city’s high-tech prowess, the event is also showcasing folk customs and intangible cultural heritages to further spread Chinese culture.
