Spanish art group SpY's new work "DIVIDED" is a huge bright and intense red sphere composed of two luminous symmetrical volumes.

Each half of the work is shrouded in a cubic metal grid that resembles construction site scaffolding. Viewers can walk through the gap between the "halves" and become part of the artwork by immersing themselves in the light-filled corridors.

SpY created a "planet" to illustrate the importance of relationships among the inhabitants of Earth. As the core idea of the project expresses, by understanding differences as complementary rather than separate, one can more easily overcome mutual exclusion and the two elements can also reinforce and promote each other.

"DIVIDED" inherits and continues a series of recent designs by SpY Studio. Last year, the design team presented the impressive "Earth / Tierra" installation in one of Madrid's most important squares. The project was a great success and attracted widespread attention around the world.
